Web Hosting Hardware Upgrade

"I feel the need... the need for speed...!"

No, this is not an advertisement for the upcoming Top Gun movie sequel, rather we're introducing a new generation of web server to our web hosting service.

Every few years, we update all of our web hosting hardware to help ensure that our servers run without issue and with the best possible performance.

With this hardware refresh, we are introducing NVMe storage. NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) is a type of solid-state drive (SSD) that is attached directly to the server's main board. As such, NVMe is significantly faster than the SATA SSD's we're currently using in our servers (up to 5 times faster in some tests) and orders of magnitude faster than traditional spinning platter hard disk drives.

To help us take advantage of this improved data speed, we're also rolling out next generation CPU's capable of processing nearly 1.5 billion more individual instructions per thread per second.

To continue the Top Gun analogy, these servers are going to fly!

We will be migrating your web hosting account to one of these new servers most likely next month. We do not anticipate any downtime during this migration and we plan to maintain the current server hostnames on the new servers to help ensure you can connect to your hosted services without your needing to update any settings. If we do not manage the DNS for your website on the CWS network, we will contact you ahead of this migration.

Any dramas, as always, please just let us know.
